Viral Marketing

Doesn’t it seem as if every time you’re thinking about something, it shows up on your Instagram the next day? Unfortunately, that is not just some crazy coincidence and you have been a victim of viral marketing. Using website “cookies”, internet browsers on your phone can record your interests and will present information to you based on them. For example, someone constantly looking up the score of today’s football game might receive advertisements concerning fantasy football, or a special cable streaming service. This is partially what allows for the vast spread of ideas through viral marketing as it specializes information toward a specific audience which will more than likely be receptive to an advertisement in their realm of interest. In conjunction with the several picture sharing and other social media platforms, companies can create a single advertisement to reach hundreds of thousands of people who just might want their product. This is a completely revolutionary marketing tool and subsequently has caused countless corporations to go digital.
